Jun. 25–The Food and Drug Administration has cleared the way for cheaper generic copies of Abbott Laboratories’ popular thyroid drug Synthroid, the second-most prescribed medication in the United States.
Although Synthroid has been on the market for more than 50 years, it has never faced direct generic competition because it predated modern FDA rules and regulations.
